The Danube
During the summer months (May - September) take a river ferryboat to or from Budapest

Vác
22 miles from Budapest. An important town on the east bank, with a baroque city centre, and an Italian style cathedral.

Gödöllö
The former summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph and Queen Elisabeth. Special events (theatre, classical musical programmes) are occasionally held in the castle.

Szentendre
A charming small town 12 miles from Budapest. Many churches, museums, galleries, antique shops, Hungarian hand-made folk art, cafés and restaurants.

Székesfehérvár
A beautiful baroque and rococo city. One of Hungary’s oldest cities. The site of royal burials and coronations.

Martonvásár
There are many inside and open-air concerts in honour of Beethoven.
